ViewSonic XG2402

This isn’t the cheapest 24″ 1080p 144hz monitor on our list, but the ViewSonic certainly is one of the most capable monitors out there in 2019. A newer version of the highly-popular ViewSonic XG2401, the XG2402 improves on this budget 1080p 144hz monitor with improved gamma and OSD settings allowing for greater customisation than the XG2401, as well as superior input response time tuning. The image quality is so great on this XG2404 TN panel that it rivals even the picture quality as seen on an IPS monitor.

Specs wise, the XG2404 is a 24″ TN panel with an aspect ratio of 16:9, best-in-class response time of 1ms that makes this panel great for gaming. The XG2402 has plenty of useful features that are built to enhance your gaming experience, such as FreeSync built-in to help prevent screen tearing, as well as a good number of ports including HDMI and DisplayPort – both capable of outputting 1080p @ 144hz.

Note that in some countries the ViewSonic XG2402 is actually discontinued so if you are then we recommend going for the XG2401 instead or another cheap 24″ 1080p 144hz monitor in our list.

Acer XFA240

The second monitor on our list, the Acer XFA240 – is a very cheap 144hz monitor that performs great given a little bit of color adjustment and adding a color profile – after taking this monitor out of the box.

The XFA240 is a 24″ 144hz 1080p TN panel with a listed response time of 1ms, and has speakers in-built as well as having DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI ports. Once you experience gaming on this at 144hz, you will never want to go back to gaming at 60Hz again.

This is often compared to the MSI Optix MAG241C (our next entry in the list) – and we would recommend the XFA240 as the best budget 144hz monitor for gaming out of the two as it has a faster TN panel as well as G-SYNC support – but we would prefer the MAG241C for movie watching and general use.

MSI Optix MAG241C – Cheapest 144hz 1080p curved monitor

The MSI Optix MAG241C is the third entry in our guide, but is the first budget curved 144hz 1080p monitor on our list. This 24″ monitor has a curved radius of 1500R – offering a super immersive gameplay experience, along with 144Hz and a 1ms response time (take with a pinch of salt) – this monitor is built for performance on a budget. It is one of the cheapest 144hz monitors on the market from a reputable brand (MSI), and with the bonus of a curved screen – it adds for even greater value from this monitor.

With features such as FreeSync to prevent screen tearing as well as 115% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3 – pictures and movies on this VA panel. Thin bezels and a sleek, professional looking design make this our of our favorite cheap 24″ 1080p 144hz monitors on the market – and hence why it has made our list. It is important to note that due to the MAG241C being a VA panel this may suffer from a certain degree of ghosting, so if that is a concern for you then it’s best to opt for a IPS or TN panel instead.

ViewSonic VX2458-MHD – Cheapest 144Hz monitor

By far the cheapest 144hz 1080p monitor on the market, and from a reputable brand who are known for making killer 1080p 144hz panels – the ViewSonic VC2458-MHD is a great TN panel capable of 144hz at a MRRT of 1ms – all packed into a 24″ monitor typically found at just under $150. With FreeSync to reduce screen tearing, Low Blue light mode, as well as customisable preset visual modes – this budget 144hz monitor from ViewSonic is built for long gaming marathons and heavy amounts of usage.

It may be possible to find a cheaper 144hz panel than the VX2458-MHD, but this is one that has been tried and tested by many  /r/buildapc users that have recommended this budget 144hz 1080p monitor time and time again.

AOC C24G1 – Best budget curved 1080p 144hz monitor

The AOC C24G1 is another great budget 144hz 1080p curved monitor that receives very impressive reviews from top hardware sites and from the likes of Reddit’s /r/monitors. This 8-bit Samsung panel can be found typically on sale for about $210 – and features a 1500R curve and very impressive picture quality, encased in an ultra-thin bezel to make this monitor look practically bezel-less. The 144hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, FreeSync all make for a seriously capable gaming monitor.

With all of the features packed into this 144hz 1080p monitor – the AOC C24G1 gets our recommendation as the best budget curved 144hz 1080p monitor in 2019.
