Best Graphics Cards to Pair With the Ryzen 5 3600

October 19, 2020 by PremiumBuilds 5 Comments

best-GPU-for-ryzen-5-3600

Looking to build with the upcoming Ryzen Zen 2 processor, the Ryzen 5 3600? Like many builders out there, many any trying to work out what will be the best graphics card (GPU) to go with the Ryzen 5 3600, offering relative levels of performance and so that one does not bottleneck the other.

It is important when deciding on a Ryzen 5 3600 build to consider a decent CPU cooler, PC case and motherboard if you want to push the 3600 to its limits. In this guide, I will actually be going over the best GPUs to go with the Ryzen 5 3600 – to get the most performance and build a solid, highly capable Zen 2 build in 2020 – where one component isn’t holding the Ryzen 5 3600 back at all.

At only $200, the Ryzen 5 3600 offers fantastic value for money, and thus will be used for many high performance, budget-orientated builds. Thus, in this guide I will focus on high performance graphics cards whilst offering decent value for money.

Best GPUs for the Ryzen 5 3600 – My Recommendations

1. RTX 2060 Super

The first graphics card I would like to mention that is a good option for the Ryzen 5 3600 is the newly released NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super, coming in at just $399. For only $50 more than the RTX 2060 retail price at $349, the RTX 2060 Super offers superior clock speeds, more CUDA cores, and faster memory. The core clock is up 105 MHz from the RTX 2060 to 1470 MHz, features 8GB GDDR5 memory (over 6GB) and memory bandwidth of 448 GB/sec – a massive improvement over the RTX 2060’s bandwidth of just 336.1 GB/s.

Early reviews are showing the NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super being a possible RTX 2070 beater, providing fantastic performance for a very reasonable price for what they are. The RTX 2060 Super has also been shown to be as fast as the more expensive cousin, the $700 GTX 1080! This is why it gets our recommended pick to be paired with the Ryzen 5 3600.

The RTX 2060 Super will be available in stores on July 9th, 2 days after the release of the Zen 2 processors and X570 motherboards, including the Ryzen 5 3600. If you’ve been holding off from buying a graphics card for your upcoming R5 3600 build, you may be in luck with the release of this impressive GPU.

2. AMD Radeon RX 5700

Another newly announced card that will likely be a great pairing with Zen 2 builds will be AMD’s own Radeon RX 5700, priced from $379 for the standard version and $449 for the ‘XT‘ version, these price points are directly aimed at Nvidia’s new RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super graphics cards.

Although we haven’t got many benchmarks and full breakdown reviews for the RX 5700, the specifications and official benchmarks are showing this graphics card to have an impressive performance for its price point. The RX 5700 features 8GB of GDDR6 memory, a TDP of 180W with a base clock of 1465MHz and boost clock speed of 1725MHz. With slightly less compute units at 36 compared to the 5700 XT’s 40, the RX 5700 on paper seems to offer impressive performance for its price point. The 5700 XT and 5700 utilise the Navi 10 processor and a redesigned architecture to improve performance on its predecessor. Where the 5700 XT shines over the 5700 is that it features 40 compute units and 2560 shaders and although with a lower teraflop count than the Vega 64 – AMD claims the 5700XT is 14% more powerful than the RX Vega 64, whilst using about 20% less power!

At just $399, the regular Navi RX 5700 has been shown to have a 10% performance increase over the RTX 2060, and even 6% increase in performance over the RTX 2070. Although, we will take this with a pinch of salt and also want to see direct benchmark comparisons between the RX 5700, 5700XT and the RTX 2060 Super – both of which we think will be the best-suited graphics cards for the Ryzen 5 3600.
