NVIDIA has recently released their new “RTX Super’ line of updated RTX graphics cards, set to take aim at AMD’s new Navi graphics card line with their new RX 5700 & RX 5700 XT cards – aimed at mid-high end builds for 2019.
The announcement of the RTX 2060 Super, RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2080 Super came all of a sudden, and was a surprise to many PC builders out there – but this updated-refresh on the RTX series of NVIDIA graphics cards have been shown to give quite the performance boost over the previous generation – whilst keeping prices the same. This makes the RTX Super series even better value than the current generation RTX line of graphics cards.
The RTX 2060 Super is the least powerful card announced in the RTX Super lineup, but is a big improvement on the RTX 2060, and makes for a great mid-range graphics card perfect for gaming at 1440p and also VR, thanks to its 8GB of GDDR6 memory based on the Turing architecture. It is positioned to compete currently against the AMD RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT.
Just like our RTX 2080 Ti aftermarket card guide, in this article we will overview all announced RTX 2060 Super cards, compare them and give our verdict on the best RTX 2060 Super cards to go for in your next PC build in 2019.
We will update this as more RTX 2060 Super cards are announced, and if there are any we haven’t mentioned – drop us a message and we will do our best to update it.

RTX 2060 Super Founders Edition vs AIB/Aftermarket RTX 2060 Super
If you’re deciding between a reference or founders edition, RTX 2060 Super card and an AIB/Aftermarket RTX 2060 Super, there are a number of things to consider.
In general, the reference RTX 2060 Super card will be found the cheapest retail price, and have a reference PCB that makes it more compatible with aftermarket water blocks for the RTX 2060 Super – whereas this is more difficult with custom PCBs. Not that many people will be wanting to water-cool an RTX 2060 Super.
The aftermarket RTX 2060 Supers can vary greatly in comparison to the Founders Edition super. I have summarised the main differences depending on the specific custom RTX 2060 super card.
- Higher factory core and boost clock speeds (vs RTX 2060 Super Founders Edition)
- Fan Design
- PCB Design
- Features, such as RGB, 0Db Fan Speed Modes, backplate
- DVI-D, DisplayPort, HDMI Ports, USB Type-C and quantity of these ports
- Power connector types and quantity
- Dimensions (Length, Width, Height)
- Price
- Warranty length
- Availability
In the next section of this article, I will compare the specifications of all announced RTX 2060 Super cards in 2019, using all information that is currently available on the public domain. Along with pricing, we will begin to get an idea of what the best value RTX 2060 super cards are likely to be.

Best RTX 2060 Super Cards – Our thoughts so far

Best RTX 2060 Super Card
The fastest aftermarket RTX 2060 Super card currently announced is the Asus RTX 2060 Super ROG Strix OC Edition. This beefy 2.5 slot, 301mm design graphics card has a huge triple fan design, decent PCB & VRM cooling to help bring the factory boost clock all the way up to 1860 MHz! Connectivity-wise this card has dual HDMI and DisplayPort, with a USB Type C port built-in, too. RGB and 0Db technology are present, which is great for making this extreme RTX 2060S run super silent whilst at low loads.
The next card that comes close to matching the 2060S ROG Strix OC Edition at factory boost clock speeds is Gigabyte’s AORUS RTX 2060 Super, with a boost clock rated at $1845, and retails for $20 less than the ROG Strix OC Edition of the RTX 2060 Super.
Priced at $470, this is also one of the most expensive RTX 2060 Super aftermarket cards, matching the price of the EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC Ultra Gaming, and about $70 more expensive than the Founders Edition.
Early impressions of the ASUS RTX 2060 Super ROG Strix OC Edition (A mouthful) tell us this is a promising looking card. and the beefy cooling design pays off in the performance numbers compared to the (still impressive) founders edition of the RTX 2060 Super.
Cheapest RTX 2060 Super Card
Right now, the cheapest RTX 2060 Super cards, matching the Nvidia RTX 2060 Super Founders Edition which has a retail price of $399, are the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Windforce OC and the Zotac RTX 2060 Super Mini. Unless you plan on doing a cheap RTX 2060 Super ITX build, we recommend between the FE edition and Gigabyte to firstly go for what you can find in stock at retail price, or if both are in stock then the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Windforce OC aftermarket card.
Why? We recommend going for the Windforce OC vs Founders Edition RTX 2060 Super because it has a slightly higher factory boost clock speed at 1680MHz (vs 1650MHz), 0Db fan speed mode and 3 DisplayPorts. However, if you want USB Type C, then go for the Nvidia RTX 2060 Super Founders Edition as the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Windforce OC doesn’t have Type C connectivity.
Smallest RTX 2060 Super Card for ITX Builds
Right now, the aftermarket RTX 2060 Super cards designed to be used in ITX or small form factor (SFF) builds, and are smaller than the Founders Edition are the MSI RTX 2060 Super Aero ITX and the Zotac RTX 2060 Super Mini. Measuring in at just 174mm, the MSI Super Aero ITX is the smallest RTX 2060 Super card, which is 36mm shorter in length than the Zotac RTX 2060 Super Mini which has a length of 210 mm. The MSI utilises a single fan design and 8-pin power connector whereas the Zotac Mini features a dual-fan cooling design with 8-pin + 6-pin power connectors.
Both these small RTX 2060 super cards for ITX builds are 2-slot in design, and have stock factory clock speeds and don’t have USB Type C connectivity and 0Db fan speed modes.
Both these cards seem pretty decent for their size, and because of the sheer small size for MSI RTX 2060 Super Aero ITX, that card gets our recommendation as the smallest RTX 2060 Super aftermarket card and ideal for SFF/ITX builds.
